McDonald's Supports World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Earth Hour

As part of McDonald’s ongoing commitment to being environmentally sustainable and energy efficient, McDonald’s restaurants around the world will be supporting Earth Hour. These local initiatives give us the opportunity to engage our customers and our employees around the benefits of energy conservation and the impact it can have on reducing climate change. 
 
Here are some highlights of McDonald’s participation:
 
McDonald’s Australia
Restaurants will be switching off the lights of pylons and letter sets and other non-essential lighting or equipment. Tray mats are being used to promote Earth Hour.
 
McDonald’s Canada
All restaurants participating will be turning off roadside pole signs and roof beam lighting.
 
McDonald’s U.S. - Chicago Region
All 490 restaurants in the Chicago region will turn off their McDonald's road signs. 
 
McDonald’s Denmark
All restaurants will turn of lights and signage inside and outside (essential lighting in kitchen is allowed but in some restaurants the crew will wear headlamps). Posters in all restaurants to inform customers about event
 
McDonald’s UK
Restaurants will be turning off fascia signage, sky signs and roof lighting for the hour. McDonald’s UK will also run a countdown timer to Earth Hour on the big advertising sign at Piccadilly Circus in the centre of London, which will then be switched off for the hour. The event will also be promoted on the UK website. 
 
McDonald’s Poland
Restaurants will be switching off the signage lights in restaurants in Warsaw (some further restaurants may also join) for the hour.
 
McDonald’s Serbia
Restaurants will be switching off the signage lights in all restaurants for the hour.
 
McDonald’s Sweden
Restaurants will shut down outside lighting and lower lights the lobby. Lights at McDonald’s Head office will also be turned off.
 
McDonald’s Mexico
All restaurants will turn off their McDonald’s road signs.
